Can It Get Any Colder????
The furnace quit!!! Luckily, it was just a matter of replacing two AA batteries and some fiddling with the furnace to get the pilot to relight itself. I've been looking for some exotic tropical places to move to. Len can come if he wants but Dr Levi says for sure he'll come with me. I'm ready and winter isn't even here yet.

The Never Ending Storm
It’s been so cold for about a week now. Before it started snowing even the pond froze up. It has about a 6 inch layer of ice on it so far. I’ve been adding water everyday to the skimmer box to keep it full and my pump running. I have to punch holes above the air-stones and around the bottom of the waterfall as well as in front of the skimmer box to keep everything working. I have a de-icer but it’s buried itself under the ice. I was told I could keep the whole thing running because of my fish, just to watch out for water escaping over the edge of the waterfall. Seriously, I would’ve done something else if I’d of known this was going to turn into a full time job. I’m not even sure how my fish are but atleast they haven’t shown up in the skimmer box yet.
With the wind chill they say it’s -30F and that was when it was sunny outside. It’s getting dark now and I have to go out and check it all again

Lucky Lady Squirrel
This is Lucky Lady my squirrel. I found her in my garden on the first day of October crying her great big sulky tears. Seems she was in my neighbors tree when the branch broke and she was flung into my garden hurt. I picked her up and placed her on the top rail of my fence – no I didn’t wear gloves – I pet her every morning. She normally comes every morning to tease my dog Zoey but on this morning she wasn’t doing very well. I called the DOW because she was foaming at the mouth. They told me she was in stress and not to worry because squirrels don’t carry rabies – they do carry plague & other things. I moved her into a hanging basket full of leaves and let her rest the day away quietly. I was a little worried about the frost due that night so I wrapped the basket with landscaping fiber but around 7pm she went home. The next morning she was back in her basket just long enough to let me know she was ok. She is still getting over her fear of heights, which is kindda funny to watch. They had the nasty tree professionally removed the other day and Lucky Lady is back to teasing Zoey every morning now.
